The Chorley Stud and Flock
HORTENSIA – our foundation. A wonderful dark bay Thoroughbred, German bred in the purple, by Cagliostro out of Hofrose by Windwurf. She has achieved success initially in the racing field, then adapted to eventing, show jumping and dressage and finally turned to a successful county showing career at the age of 14 years. Due to a congenitally narrow pelvis we have only managed to breed from her by Embryo Transfer – courtesy of the Veterinary Practice ‘Newcombe and East’ in Brownhills, West Midlands. Her first daughter ‘Chorleys Anastasia’ has achieved numerous In Hand County Show and CHAPS and BSPA championships to her name.

CHORLEYS ANASTASIA (Anna) born in 2001. Bay tobiano mare by CHAPS Elite Graded Stallion Lostock Huntsman. She will make a top class coloured Riding Horse and has wonderful conformation coupled with outstanding extravagant action. In 2002 as a yearling she was Champion at Bucks County show and qualified for the Cuddy Breeders In Hand Qualifier at the show. In 2003 she was Champion Coloured at the only 4 County Shows entered and qualified for the Cuddy Breeders In Hand Qualifier 3 more times. She rounded the year off with Reserve Champion Supreme In Hand Horse at the BSPA (British Skewbald & Piebald Association) Championship Show. Since then she has turned to a Brood mare, but will probably be broken in soon.

HOLLO. We imported Hollo from Hungary as a driving mare for our anticipated horse drawn funeral business in 2004. As this has been put ‘on hold’ at present she has become a valuable brood mare in our stud. She is a pure bred Nonius - born in 1993 - and her pedigree dates back to the Royal Stud in Hungary in the 17th century. She is known as a ‘30km horse’, meaning she will stand work up to 30km per day.

DOLLY bred by the late J S Borland Esq by Embla Stud’s Bazaars Texas out of a Connemara pony mare. Dolly had her first foal in 2006 ‘Chorleys Dolly Daydream’ a bay tobiano filly by Appledore Marengo. She has been DNA tested resulting in our first homozygous filly at the Chorley Stud.
